I was 19 years old and about 22 weeks pregnant when my entire world shifted.
At the time, I thought I had everything I could ever want—love, hope, and a future that looked bright. Until I didn’t. One phone call changed everything: the father of my child had passed away.
In that moment, my heart shattered. I had so many thoughts racing through my mind—fear, confusion, grief, and the overwhelming weight of what lay ahead. I was broken. I cried. I screamed. I asked God, Why? I couldn’t understand. How could this be part of the plan?
Suddenly, I was facing the reality of raising a precious baby on my own. I didn’t know what to do or where to turn—so I turned to the only One who had never let me down.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
I cried out to God and asked Him to help me. To heal my heart. To make me into the mother He had called me to be. I asked Him to lead the way—and He did.
Surrender and Healing
I fully surrendered my life to Him. That surrender didn’t mean instant healing. It was a long journey—years of learning to trust, to forgive, to hope again. But slowly, God began to restore me. He picked up the shattered pieces of my heart and made something beautiful from them.
He healed parts of me I didn’t even know were broken—parts only He could see. In every lonely night, in every silent tear, He was there. He never left me. He never forsook me.
Almost nine years later, I can stand and say with full confidence: I know that I know that I know who my God is. He walked through the fire with me—and I came out without a single burn.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (NIV)
Renewed and Expectant
Now, I live in a place of healing and hope. I believe again. I laugh again. I love being a mother to the child who became my anchor. And yes, I’m believing God for love again. I trust that in His perfect time, He will send the one my soul loves. Not to complete me, but to walk beside me in the wholeness God has already brought.
